Looking at this warp is somewhat disconcerting.

As I have been preparing this workshop, I have been noticing the various things for which I don’t have samples, and it turns out that ombré is one such thing. I could have sworn there would be something stashed in a box somewhere, but nope.

So I looked around the room for some suitable yarn and spotted all these shades of grey. What could be more ombré than that? And now I have wound this disconcerting warp. I did think seriously about putting a couple of ends of red in the middle there, but have so far resisted.

I received some good advice in response to my previous post and have been ploughing on with part two of my notes. I need to take a break from them for a few days as the day job is calling — but we have another holiday on Friday (courtesy of the royal nuptials) so I can get back to workshop planning then.

I haven’t spent the whole of the weekend at the computer, though. The weather has been really summery for the last few days, and people and cats alike have been making the most of it. Every day we see the sun in this part of the world we always suspect that it may be the last time for several months. Our suspicions are often justified. But for now even Polly has been discovering the fun of Outdoors (and particularly Up Trees), while Phoebus has moved out of the house and into the raised herb bed. He sleeps between the rosemary and the thyme all day long and only comes in for meals. Oh, and to have the people brush the earth out of his fur, of course.

That will make a truly elegant, understated scarf. I hope that this gorgeous warp isn’t just for samples!

I love the ombre. April must be ombre month. I bought a lovely purple/grey/white scarf to go with my Easter bonnet. Just kidding about the bonnet! There is NO bonnet, I tell you!

I’m afraid the elegance is all in the colour and not the yarn, which is a 10/2 cotton. Might manage a scarf but I was thinking more of a table runner. I haven’t even decided on the structure yet, though!
