off the loom and back on again

posted in: Blog | 5

I cut the Theo Moorman samplers off the loom last night and they are SO EXCITING. I haven’t washed them yet, but just look at these woolly squares popping out from the surface of the cloth.

I hope they are still as striking once it is properly finished. I’m such a sucker for punishment that I have already started warping up again. The gold thread is as unruly as ever.

The deadline for the Complex Weavers exhibition has been extended and I’m wondering whether I can weave this off in time. If it becomes too challenging I will have to leave it — I really don’t need to give myself additional stresses at this point — but it will be fun to weave in any case.

The way you set up the loom in the second picture gives me ideas on how to use fussy decorative yarns, though I only have one warp bean on my bigger looms. Do you mind, Cally, showing me a bigger view of the back of your loom please?

What a lovely piece, and the Theo M method is fun to work with. I look forward to seeing more.
