I love a taster day! As a student, I love to immerse myself in something new for a day, trying things that I wouldn’t normally do. As a teacher, I love to set the scene for students so that they can enjoy that same experience. There’s no fear of failure, because who can fail at tasting? So I’ve decided that the first events I am going to host in my studio will be weaving ‘tasters’ and I have set aside some dates to do just that.
For the students there will be lots of colour, lots of yarn and lots of fun. For me there will be no packing looms into cars! That’s lots of fun before we even get started.
OK, for those of you thinking you might enjoy a taste of weaving, the facts are these:
A ‘taster’ day is a one-day course which includes hands-on experience of all the processes involved in weaving your own cloth. You will create a woven sampler to take away with you at the end. All the weaving is done on four-shaft table looms which are prepared in advance and ready to use.
All materials and equipment will be provided and no previous weaving knowledge is required.
Booking is essential as there is a maximum of four people in each class. The price is £45. A deposit of £20 is required at the time of booking with the balance payable on the day.
If you wish to give a taster day as a gift, gift certificates and cards are available. Payment of the full fee is required for a gift certificate, but it can be transferred to an alternative date up to three weeks before the class.
All these details and a few more — like the next workshop dates — can be found on the Events page.
