There is a lot going on and deadlines are whooshing past me in a frightening manner. So naturally I started winding a warp with nothing in mind but a bit of play. I may be forgetting something, but it seems like ages since I got out the blue yarns. It was nice to see them again.

The play I have in mind has already changed several times and I haven’t even begun yet… I was going to mess around with twill blocks and high twist yarns — hence the stripes — but then I thought of some ideas in huck lace which I would like to try. Then I wasn’t sure whether those ideas were actually feasible on the shafts I have and thought I might try them in Bronson lace instead. But perhaps I’ll go back to the twill and ponder the lace a while longer. Or perhaps I will think of something else. Nothing has been threaded yet so it’s all up for grabs!

To liven things up even more, today I had a play-date with Michelle who has recently moved up to Scotland from Norfolk. It is brilliant to have a new weaverly neighbour! OK, she’s not exactly next door, but she’s within 100 miles so that counts. It definitely counts.

Cally, it was a pleasure to come up to the studio for a “playdate”. Your pictures do not fully do it justice -I was very jealous, but love what you have done. Here’s to the next one!

Lucky both of you, being able to play together!
Are these yarns from Shirley Pinder?
Lovely colours together. Looking forward to seeing what you’re going to do with them.
