mixing ideas

I have had a plan up my sleeve for a double weave draft for ages, but haven’t managed to get a warp on the loom to try it. But now I have a double weave warp on the loom — albeit with other things in mind — so I thought I would give it a whirl. The threading and peg plan arise from two completely separate trains of thought, but I love the way they work together.

I need to experiment more with this.

And thank you for all the commiserations on the demise of my beloved tape measure. To return to that sad subject for a moment, I have in fact discovered a bright side. Having a 19 cm tape measure fragment at the loom is actually pretty useful. And, although you can’t see it in the photo I posted, the other side of my tape measure is also numbered but from the opposite end. So while it no longer functions as a 60″ tape measure, I do have 52 working inches in the long part. I was thinking of putting it back together with some clear vinyl tape, but I might just keep it in two pieces for a while and see how we get on.

It’s very nice, Cally, and I think the tape measure idea is excellent – now you have two treasures instead of just one!
