Having gone from here
and now here,
I am ready to weave on Monday morning. It’s been a hectic couple of days as I also had to tidy up (heavens!) for some new weavers-to-be who will be weavers by the end of tomorrow. However, I left the studio looking pretty neat and feel I’ve earned my Friday-night beer and pizza. Just a couple of random thoughts left in my head:
1. I don’t know about you, but I definitely favour lashing on over tying on for wider warps, i.e. anything much more than a scarf. I simply can’t manage enough consistency in the tension if I attach each bout separately, whereas the binding cord is so charmingly forgiving.
2. Did you notice in the photos that the right-hand end of the beater handle is considerably more grubby-looking than the left-hand end? I’m afraid that is the dye from my palm protection making its mark on the loom. I’ve had a go at cleaning it up but with limited success. Unless anyone has any bright ideas to suggest, I think I may just have to treat it as part of the natural life of loom use.
This warp does look lovely from the back.
I hope I haven’t made too many errors setting it up.
