Living by the list

My to-do list isn’t leaving me much scope for off-list activities at the moment, but one snuck past me last week: a horrible cold that sent me to bed for the best part of two days (and made me grumpy for a whole lot more than two). I’m left with a hideous cough, particularly at night − which I would feel quite bad about except that S manages to sleep through it. Not fair! It wakes me up, therefore it ought to wake everyone up.

I did manage to get in quite a lot of studio time before I was struck down and so I can bring you this:

No, not the Herdy mug, lovely as it is. My second-ever sectional warp! My first one was successful but short. This one is long. Verdict to come.

I can also bring you this…

mystery photo

…even though I have no idea why I took it. It was on my phone, so now it is on my computer. Why did I take a picture of some bits of string and a few clips? I may have pressed the button by mistake.

Yesterday I had a great day with four new weavers in the studio, and they were amazing. Sara sent me some pictures of her sampler:

I hope I have only transmitted the weaving bug, and not the coughing one.

Next I need to get myself organised for the first of the ‘Off the Grid’ workshops, coming up in May. May! I am not sure I am ready for that list yet.

I always marvel at weavers who put their tea or coffee on the castle. I’d spill that in an instant. One cough and Herdy would be over the edge. Hope you feel better, Cally.

I observe strict rules based on the stages of weaving. Mugs are permitted on the castle during threading, sleying and tying on. Once treadling starts, though, they are banned!

Oh my, I must have sent my winter cold over the Atlantic. That darn cough lasts and lasts doesn’t it. Isn’t it funny what people notice in photos? My eye only saw the beautiful blue warp. But now I see the cup it is adorable ‘)
