Firth of Tay

The colours and textures of the Tay are the colours and textures of my daily life. In this piece I have translated Scottish Government data about multiple deprivation in Dundee and Tayside into a handwoven length of silk where each block of pattern corresponds to the population profile in a local city, town or village. The finished work offers an alternative portrait of the region that, like the statistical data it draws from, is abstracted beyond recognition.
